Acne product to the test : CeraVe

Let’s talk about acne… well, my acne story.

Like most teenagers, pimples and blackheads decided to show up on my face and back (but that’s a story for another time) during puberty. It was definitely not a serious acne case and my skin healed perfectly after I would pop a zit.

After a few years, my acne became worst and worst. A real hormonal roller coaster ! In the end, my skin would clear out for about a week out of four. I was really self-conscious because of my acne, so I tried a TON of products and skincare regiment. Some worked, but only for a while and then, my face would be covered in white and blackheads.

I’m sure I’m not the only one with this problem! When I find the product of my dreams that removes all or some of my imperfections (pimples, black spots, irregularity, scars, etc.),my skin gets used to it after a few weeks and then, everything comes back. As if my skin has a radar for anti-acne agent (benzoyl peroxide, salicylic acid and so on).

I have a confession to make…I’m a big face-toucher! I have this really bad habit –obsession– of touching my face and picking at my acne at all times. It really doesn’t help my situation transferring dirt and bacteria from my hands to my face. Eww!

This is not an acne story with an happy ending! I won’t be giving out my miracle product, but my honest opinion on some acne products that I’ve tested. Hopefully, one day, I’ll be able to say adios to all my skin imperfections, and maybe help you do the same on the way.

Affordable. Usually, affordable is not the first word that comes to mind when it comes to effective acne products. However, CeraVe is a range of skincare products for the body and face, developed in collaboration with dermatologists and sold in pharmacies, so it’s very accessible. The products are enriched with a blend of 3 essential ceramides to help restore, regenerate and moisturize the skin.

CeraVe Foaming Facial Cleanser

The foaming face cleanser for normal to oily skin was the first product of the range that I tested. The refreshing gel gently foams once applied to the wet skin and deeply cleanse the face. I’ve noticed a big difference in my overall skin texture, but specifically that my pores looked minimized, almost invisible. Also, the next morning, the excess oil that I usually have on my skin was gone…thanks to hyaluronic acid! However, it’s really important to apply mosturizer after using this facial cleanser because it dry out the skin.

CeraVe Skin Renewing Night Cream

This cream lives up to its name!  Overnight, it regenerates dull, tired and dry skin and help restore the natural skin protective barrier. After just one night, I saw a major difference in the way my acne scars looked, rejuvenated and almost invisible! The cream is very rich and gives the impression that the product will leave a greasy finish on the face, but the skin absorbs it completely and pretty quickly.

CeraVe Skin Renewing Cream serym

A cream serum … it’s definitely not a formula that we’re used to! This product is not specifically against acne, but I wanted to test it out because it’s part of the range and is compatible with my type of skin. It couldn’t hurt, right?  Thanks to the encapsulated retinol in the formula, my skin was restored, radiant and deeply moisturized!
