🍸Pineapple & Co.

With an eclectic cocktail menu, neon pineapple-shaped sign and modern tiki-bar vibes, Le Mal Nécessaire has quickly become a Montreal Chinatown staple. Tucked in a basement on the Main, it boasts comfy banquette seating and a tropical ambiance that inspires both wanderlust and dance parties.

When you’re there, it’s safe to say that at least one neighbouring table will have ordered a Abacaxi Mai Tai—a rum-based cocktail served in a real pineapple (casual). You’ll be mesmerised, and you’ll order one yourself. Good decision! It’s like a beachside vaca in a glass, er, pineapple. For something slightly less flashy, try the fresh and well-balanced Ginseng Pisco Sour: The mix of pisco, lime, egg white, sugar and ginseng goes down a little too easily. The Bitter Brazilian (grapefruit, Leblon Cachaça, Campari, falernum) is also a standout.

Know that there’s also a food menu that is perfect for late night munches. Kudos to the owners of Mal Nécessaire (also the crew behind Datch and Maïs) for doling out all the essential elements for the perfect night out.
